Using the Regression Analysis in Numismatics

Due to good results of the regression analysis use which are important for technological parametres of coins studies, we have screened this field of interest in more details. We continued in research by a larger number of the sets worked out, the furtherperiods of Czech and Moravian coinages followed: we mean the brackteat and groschen periods and small money of a thaler period. We tried to find a mutual dependence between the diameter, thickness and weight with sets of coins given. To make it simple we only carried out the two-dimensional analysis on pairs of parametres. First of all we studied the dependence between the weight and thickness of a coin. In all cases there was a close dependence. The dependence between thickness and the diameter is really unsupported; the dependence between the diameter and weight is a little bit closer and lies over the limit of the statistic importance.

Užití regresní analýzy v numismatice

Czech description

Vzhledem k pozitivním výsledkům využívání regresní analýzy ke zkoumání vzájemných závislostí technologických parametrů mincí, jsme se šířeji zaměřili na tuto oblast. Navázali jsme na zkoumání českých a moravských denárů zejména rozšířením počtu zpracovaných souborů. Pak jsme se zaměřili na další významná období ražby českých a moravských mincí brakteátového období, grošového období a dále na drobnou minci tolarového období. Hledali jsme vzájemnou závislost mezi průměrem, tloušťkou a hmotností u daných souborů mincí. Pro průhlednost jsme se zaměřili pouze na dvourozměrnou analýzu, tedy na dvojice parametrů. Nejdříve jsme se zaměřili na závislost mezi hmotností a tloušťkou mince. Ve všech sledovaných případech jsme zjistili těsnou závislost. Závislost mezi tloušťkou a průměrem je volná; závislost mezi průměrem a hmotností je o něco těsnější a leží nad hranicí statistické významnosti.
