Distribution and ecology of Xerula melanotricha Dörfelt in the Czech Republic (Basidiomycetes, Physalacriaceae)
Original language description
Xerula melanotricha is a distinct fungus known from 36 localities in the Czech Republic. Most collections (with three exceptions explained in text) come from coniferous trees or forests (Picea abies and Abies alba). It is a late summer and autumnal species growing usually from July to October, and occurs on both calcareous and acid soils. It is widely distributed in Central, Southern and Western Europe; it has not yet been found in the Nordic countries. In the Czech Republic it grows in near-natural, man-influenced and man-made forests, and can therefore not be used as a bio-indicative species.
