  • Original language description

    Barová (also named as Sobolova) Cave is situated in the central part of the Moravian Karst. Since the discovery of the cave in 1947, three periods of excavations in the inner part of the cave had been processed until present. Fossil bone remains of typical Late Pleistocene fauna (Weischelian glaciation) were excavated. The fossil bone remains of these carnivorous animals were found: Ursus ex gr. spelaeus (as dominant), Panthera spelaea, Crocuta c. spelaea, Canis lupus, Lynx lynx, Vulpes sp., Martes sp.,Gulo gulo, (in case of last four taxa only single bones from the waste debris were found). The other vertebrates as Rangifer tarandus, Cervus sp., Capra ibex, Rupicapra rupicapra, Bos or Bison sp., Coelodonta antiquitatis, Equus sp., Lepus sp., Aves gen. sp. were also represented with very low numbers of bones. No remains of Pleistocene small mammal fauna were found yet, the sediment washing result is still negative. Cave bear (Ursus ex gr. spelaeus) bones absolutely dominate in Barová,
