European Faience and Maiolica in the Collection of the Silesian Museum 1380-1850
Original language description
The catalogue deals with a unique collection of faience and maiolica formed from the 19th century in the Silesian Museum in Opava. It was the former director of the Museum, E.W. Braun, who made a significant contribution to its creation. Apart from sets of Spanish, Italian, French, German and Austrian origin, a Silesian, Moravian or Slovakian production can be found in the collection as well; moreover, a set of Anabaptist Haban faience, comprising some essential pieces as for the development of the production, is included. With its quality, the collection may be compared to the collections located in the leading european museums. The modern catalogue makes the collection available to the general public.
