Mendel's Brno and Iconographia Mendeliana 2022
Original language description
One of the first publications issued by the Mendelianum shortly after its foundation was Iconographia Mendeliana. It was published in 1965 to commemorate the centenary of the publication of Gregor Johann Mendel’s discoveries and presented the most important pictorial and written documents relating to Mendel’s life and work in chronological order. The approaching bicentenary of Mendel’s birth and the concept of developing our research to analyse documentary and pictorial material has led us to revise and expand the concept of the original edition of this legendary pictorial publication. Our goal was to make this unique documentary work available once again to the present-day generation of those interested in Mendel, employing a contemporary approach made possible by current technical, information, and documentation resources.
