This article deals with the definition and conceptual isation of security and its relation to culture. The author outlines basic approaches to the term security, and he also explains the process of securitisation according to the so-called Copenhagen school of security studies. Categorisations of security and various concepts of cultural security are described in relation to various uses of the term culture. Attention is paid also to a brief analysis of the term security culture, mostly at a national level.
