The opéras-comiques composed by Antoine Reicha after 1808: their sources and typology
Original language description
The article deals with Antoine Reicha’s three opéras-comiques composed during his second Parisian sojourn after 1808: Cagliostro ou les Illuminés or Cagliostro ou la Séduction (1810), Gusman d’Alfarache (1816), and Bégri ou le Chanteur à Constantinople (1818). Newly found and identified sources of these operas are presented in detail together with already known sources from French national library. The paper examines also whether Reicha’s experience with these opéras-comiques is reflected in his treatise L’Art du compositeur dramatique (1833) and in what way.
