Transculturalization and Globalization of Lifestyle Medicine

  • Original language description

Lifestyle recommendations pose challenges in everyday clinical practice, with cultural differences complicating their prescription and implementation. To provide high-quality care, it is critical to consider the diverse background of the population served. Transcultural lifestyle medicine involves evidence-based recommendations tailored to individual patients from different cultures. Challenges include socioeconomic factors, cultural barriers, and the need for more information and training on transcultural interventions. The spread of lifestyle medicine across various cultures is hindered by a global scarcity of dedicated lifestyle centers, which appears to derive from an insufficient evidence base, inadequate education, and unfavorable reimbursements. © 2025 The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
