Simulation of Multiple Scattering Effect in Atmospheric Hydrometeors by Monte Carlo Method
Original language description
The effect of multiple scattering in atmospheric hydrometeors is analyzed by means of the Monte Carlo method. Photon propagation is simulated by means of a realistic drop size distribution model and assuming Mie type scattering on spherical droplets. Propagation characteristics of both millimeter waves and optical waves are studied to examine the effect of multiple scattering when compared with conventional the first order multiple scattering approximation.
