Development of Laboratory for Measuring Thermal Properties of Materials at Czech Metrology Institute
Original language description
The knowledge of different thermal properties of materials is essential in many fields of material application. Good choice of material with suitable thermal properties can play significant role in lowering of different expenditures, e.g. in building industry an appropriate insulating material can avoid heat losses resulting in lower heating costs. For design purposes, the thermal properties should be known with high accuracy, i.e. low uncertainty. As a consequence of demand for accurate data, new laboratory for measuring thermal properties of materials is being developed at the Czech Metrology Institute (CMI) in Prague.
