Original language description
In 2007 American Heart Association upgraded the guideline concerning prevention of infective endocarditis in different invasive procedures from 1997. This change concerns also digestive endoscopy mainly in choice of patients who are indicated to receiveantibiotic prophylaxis before the procedure but only at the time of undergoing gastrointestinal infection. The review also deals with other indications of antibiotic prophylaxis in gastrointestinal endoscopy, that were modified as well (new ASGE guideline).

Czech description
V roce 2007 zrevidovala American Heart Association doporučení prevence infekční endokarditidy při různých invazivních výkonech z roku 1997. Tato změna se také týká digestivní endoskopie, kdy se omezil výběr pacientů, kterým je podání antibiotika před výkonem indikováno, a to pouze v terénu současně probíhající infekce. Dále se článek zabývá dalšími indikacemi antibiotické profylaxe v digestivní endoskopii, které byly rovněž pozměněny (nová doporučení ASGE 2008).
