NT-proBNP levels on admission predicts pulmonary hypertension persistence in patients with acute pulmonary embolism

  • Original language description

The article presents the first results of a systematic follow-up of patients after pulmonary embolism with regard to the possibility of progression to chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). The authors investigates the possibility of prediction of pulmonary hypertension persistence at the time of discharge from the hospital, and so the detection of patients who are at CTEPH risk for an effective follow up. The epidemiology and pathophysiology of CTEPH are mentioned briefly too.
