NK/T-cell lymphoma nasal type with an unusual clinical course
Original language description
Anotace originálu: Extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma, nasal type is very rare in Europe. It occurs predominantly in the nasal or paranasal areas and upper respiratory tract. We present an unusual case of extranodal NK/T lymphoma, nasal type in the palate inthe first time and in the lung. A 56-year-old man noticed a painless edema of the upper lip and ulcer in the palate since 1 month. The diagnosis of NK/T cell lymphoma was made by biopsy. The patient started multiagent chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Fivemonths after finishing the treatment course, patient had multiple pulmonary infiltrates. The histopathological examination confirmed early lung dissemination of the lymphoma and the patient was given salvage chemotherapy. Despite aggressive treatment, the patient died 14 days later in severe respiratory failure. The clinical behavior is usually very aggressive and overall prognosis is very poor despite the use of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
