GM-CSF mouthwash for treatment of grade 3-4 oral mucositis induced by chemotherapy
Original language description
Patients (21) with histologically confirmed solid tumors and lymphomas with chemotherapy-induced grade 3-4 oral mucositis (with or without neutropenia) were treated with 400 ug of GM-CSF diluted in 200 ml of water. The patients performed throughout mouthwash with a spoon of the solution for 3 minutes, 3 minutes rest. This procedure was repeated for one hour once a day, maximum for four days. GM-CSF can significantly reduce severity, morbidity and duration of grade 3-4 chemotherapy - induced oral mucositis in patients with solid tumors and lymphomas.
