    Surgical Treatment of MCA Aneurysms

  • Original language description

Middle cerebral artery (MCA) aneurysms account for one of the most common intracranial aneurysms. MCA aneurysms generally pose a much higher risk for the patient than those in other locations. Once ruptured, the clinical outcome is much worse than in any other location. The superiority of surgical over endovascular treatment has been repeatedly documented considering relatively straightforward surgical access. Over the years, a minimally invasive surgical technique for MCA aneurysms was developed. The technique is described in detail, documented with surgical images, and the introduction of relevant surgical anatomy with emphasis on minimal invasivity concerning the lesion not only the craniotomy.
