Refining clinical phenotypes in septo-optic dysplasia based on MRI findings

  • Original language description

In the paper we analysed a large group of patients with uni-or bilateral optic nerve hypoplasia. Depending on the type of morphological brain abnormities and the presence or absence of functional pituitary defects we classified patients as those with septo-optic dysplasia (SOD), SOD-like phenotype and patients with isolated optic nerve hypoplasia. We conclude that unilateral ONH and SP remnants are associated with a milder SOD phenotype. Hippocampus abnormalities and falx abnormalities seem to constitute important features of severe clinical disease, irrespective of SP appearance

Zjemňování klinických fenotypů u septo-optické dysplazie založené na MRI nálezech

  • Czech description

V práci jsme analyzovali velkou skupinu pacientů s jedno- či oboustrannou hypoplázií optického nervu (ONH). Z hlediska morfologických anomálií mozku a přítomnosti či nepřítomnosti funkčních hypofyzárních poruch jsme rozlišili pacienty se septo-optickou dysplázií (SOD), SOD-like fenotypem a pacienty s izolovanou ONH. Jednostranná ONH a zbytkové septum pellucidum jsou asociovány s mírnějším fenotypem SOD. Anomálie hippokampu a falxu jsou důležitým znakem klinicky závažné formy poruchy bez ohledu na vzhledsepta pellucida
