Original language description
We explored the differentiation potential of region-specific neural stem/progenitor cells (NS/PCs) isolated from dorsal telencephalons of mouse embryos in vitro and after transplantation into a lesioned rat brain. Transplanted D6/GFP NS/PCs gave rise primarily to NeuN/MAP-2-positive neurons and were able to generate action potentials. The importance of the finding lies in proposing a new direction in CNS tissue regeneration.
