Myocardial Performance Index in Children with Ventricular Septal Defect

The echocardiographic myocardial performance index as described by Tei has been previously shown to be useful in assessment of myocardial function in children with congenital heart defects. Authors established normal values for index of myocardial performance for right and left ventricles in 60 children with innocent murmurs, before assessing 25 patients with ventricular septal defect. Changes of the left and right ventricular myocardial function, as assessed by the moycardial performance index, may bepresent in the majority of children with ventricular septal defects. Standard antifailure treatment with diuretics does not influence this incidence of abnormal myocardial function.

Index myokardiální výkonnosti u dětí s defektem komorového septa

Czech description

Echokardiografický index myokardiální výkonnosti původně popsaný Teiem se ukazuje jako užitečný v posuzování myokardiální funkce u dětí s vrozenou srdeční vadou. Autoři stanovili nejprve normální hodnoty tohoto indexu pro levou a pravou srdeční komoru u60 dětí s nevinným šelestem. Následně vyšetřili 25 dětí s defektem komorového septa. Poruchy funkce komorového myokardu zjištěné pomocí indexu myokardiální výkonnosti jsou pravděpodobně přítomny u většiny pacientů s defektem komorového septa. Běžná léčbadiuretiky neovlivňuje výskyt těchto poruch.
