Lack of Interactions between Breast Cancer Resistance Protein (BCRP/ABCG2) and Selected Antiepileptic Agents

  • Original language description

Recent studies have indicated constitutive expression of efflux transporter, breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP, ABCG2), in endothelial cells of the blood-brain barrier (BBB). The aim of this study was to test whether some commonly used antiepilepticdrugs (AEDs) are substrates transported by human BCRP. In particular, we focused on phenobarbital, phenytoin, ethosuximide, primidone, valproate, carbamazepine, clonazepam, and lamotrigine.

  • Czech name

Interakce mezi vybranými antiepileptiky a proteinem BCRP/ABCG2 není přítomna

  • Czech description

Současné studie uvádějí zvýšenou expresi efluxního transportéru BCRP, ABCG2 v endoteliálních buňkách bariéry mezi krevním řečištěm a mozkem u mozkových nádorů. Cílem studie bylo zjistit, zda některá vybraná antiepileptika (fenobarbital, fenytoin, ethosuximid, primidon, valproát, karbamazepin, klonazepam a lamotrigin) působí jako substráty pro lidský BCRP transportér. Interakce testovaných antiepileptik s BCRP nebyly nalezeny.
