Solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma in oropharynx: advantages of intensity-modulated radiotherapy

  • Original language description

We report a case of a 59-year-old man with solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma in his oropharynx. In order to prevent late toxicity, intensity-modulated radiotherapy with the use of simultaneous integrated boost and parotid salivary gland sparing was used in this patient's treatment. This is the first report of the use of intensity-modulated radiotherapy with parotid gland sparing in the treatment of solitary extramedullary plasmacytoma in the head and neck region.

Solitární extramedulární plasmocytom orofaryngu: výhody radioterapie s modulovanou intensitou

  • Czech description

Popsali jsme případ 59-letého muže s solitárním extramedulárním plasmocytomem orofaryngu. Abychom zmírnili pozdní toxicitu, použili jsme v léčbě radioterapii s modulovanou intenzitou s šetřením příušních slinných žláz. Jedná se o první popsání použití radioterapie s modulovanou intenzitou s šetřením příušních žláz v léčbě solitárního extramedulárního plasmocytomu v oblasti hlavy a krku.
