Causes, consequences, detection, and prevention of identification errors in laboratory diagnostics
Original language description
Laboratory diagnostics is no safer than other areas of health-care. Most of errors occur in pre-analytical phase of the whole process. One of the leading reasons of these mistakes is patient misidentification. These mistakes are associated with the worstclinical outcome. Use of information technology, positive patient identification and rejection and recollection of wrong samples are most suitable approaches to management of laboratory medicine
