The article introduces history, development, and current situation of family therapy and systemic practice in the Czech Republic. It includes description of main phases of the discipline's development, main training institutes and programmes, qualification requirements, and incorporation of family/systemic therapy in both health care and other contexts. The challenges, which family and systemic therapist currently face and may face in near future, are discussed.
