Population-Based Cohort of Renal Morbidity in Type 1 Diabetes

  • Original language description

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) affects 20% to 30% of individuals with type 1 diabetes (TID) and is an independent risk factor for major adverse cardiovascular events. The National Institutes of Health-sponsored Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP) aims to develop precise biomarkers for renal injury and progression, incorporating kidney histology (https://www.kpmp.org/). We describe the population of adult Olmsted County residents with TID who may be eligible for KPMP study recruitment, emphasizing the importance of socioeconomic status (SEC) in recruiting efforts.
