Teleny and the Question of Fin-de-Si
Original language description
The paper discusses the ways in which sexuality was represented in the 1890s, the period in which the Victorian moral taboos were gradually broken and sexuality as a literary theme left the close bounds of scientific discourse or pornography. The long anonymous work My Secret Life, published probably in the late 1880s, is still based upon the typical Victorian model of sexual behaviour; the anonymous novel Teleny then provides a considerable extension of the common misogynous stereotype by several moretypes.
