Observing Teaching English to the Deaf at NTID, RIT, USA
Original language description
This captioned teacher-training videoprogram was developed out of the video recordings taken in 2006 during the series of 15 class observations by Dr. Janáková at NTID, RIT (Project PEN-International) in teaching English to American deaf and hard-of-hearing university students, focused on improving their skills in reading and writing academic texts. The English courses covered teaching the beginners up to very advanced deaf students. This program includes also basic info about professional orientation of American teachers and their curriculum plans. It was distributed to all Czech special schools to help the teachers of English to the Deaf and has also been successfully used as a great resource by our postgraduate students interested in learning more about special methodological foreign language strategies applied in teaching English to the Deaf.
