    Poetic and essayistic work and extensive correspondence of Otokar Březina (1868-1929), the prominent representative of the Czech symbolism are well known within the literary and culture worlds. However, the poet''s "inexplicable liking" for the flower Galium verum Linn is quite unknown. The paper describes symbolism of this flower in Březina''s work and shows its significance for the poet and his work.
