A Frequency Dictionary of Czech
Original language description
The dictionary provides a list of the 5000 most frequently used words in the Czech language. It is the first Czech frequency dictionary based on a balanced selection of both written and authentic spoken sources (corpora SYN2005, ORAL2006, ORAL2008) thatconstitute the individual text registers (spoken, fiction, non-fiction, newspapers). Dispersion of the individual entries within the text registers is also accounted for. The dictionary provides the user with a detailed frequency-based list, as well as alphabetical and part of speech indexes. All entries in the rank frequency list feature the English equivalents, a sample sentence with English translation and an indication of register variation. The dictionary also contains thematically organised and frequency-ranked lists of words on a variety of topics.
