Early Modern Responsa Literature as a Historical Source : Methodology and Examples
Original language description
Conference paper focusing on historical and methodological aspects of a specific source for Jewish legal history, i.e. Responsa. Some theoretical problems were tackled and showed on concrete examples, based on the Responsa written by a Moravian Rabbi Menachem Mendel Krochmal (17th century). The paper wished to point at another layer of legal space in use in the early modern Holy Roman Empire, namely the Jewish law as applied within the Jewish communities.
