The article presents results of the interdisciplinary exploration of the Sabaloka Mountains and the Sixth Nile Cataract in the Sudan carried out by the scientific expedition under the auspices of the Czech Institute of Egyptology (Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague) in the scope of the Sabaloka Dam Archaeological Salvage Project (field campaigns of autumn 2011 and spring 2012), complemented by a brief overview of history of occupation and exploitation of the west bank of the concession in thepost-Neolithic times (Meroitic and Post-Meroitic periods, Christian "Medieval" and Islamic "Post-Medieval" periods).
