The text is devoted to the problems of elites in the Czech agriculture on the example of important Czech personalities Animal Breeding Josef Šmerha. Šmerha was an educator, researcher and manager, which is often based on historical foundations of his subjects. It is a practical example of a researcher who realized the importance of historical knowledge of their field in order to better address the current challenges.
