Chapter of Czech Chicago summarises the history of the Czech community in american city, Chicago. At the turn of the 19th and early 20th centuries, Chicago became the largest Czech city after Vienna and Prague. The Czech community created its own institutions and published several newspapers. Several prominent personalities also emerged, including Anton Čermák, who became Lord Mayor of Chicago.
