The article interprets Jonson&apos;s play as an experimental work of the early modern drama anticipating recent notions of cultural hybridity. It shows how the drama responds to the best know Shakespeare&apos;s tragedy, aiming at a new concept of theatre able to compete with modern commercial culture.
