Tool marks on Old Kingdom limestone vessels from Abusir : production of canopic jars and model vessels
Original language description
The article aims at presenting limestone canopic jars and model vessels from the Old Kingdom cemeteries of Abusir in the light of their production. The author concentrates on the tool marks and attempts to reconstruct the individual steps in the production process. The comparison of pieces coming from different contexts shows that there were several distinct techniques of work. They involved mostly copper implements, such as tube borers and chisels, and also specific stone tools.
