This article reads Wordsworth&apos;s drama The Borderers in the context of Roger Caillois&apos; and Wolfgang Iser&apos;s theories of play. The drama is set in the context of its selected Romantic contemporaries, highlighting the ways in which these strategies of play contribute to a deeper appreciation of the dramatic performance of the text, as well as illuminate the wider Romantic debate of transgressive heterogeneities.
