O artigo chama atenção para o antropônimo literário na obra de Lima Barreto como parte de uma estratégia literária consciente. Depois de apontar algumas mudanças onomásticas entre o conto (( Clara dos Anjos }} e o romance homônimo, mostra-se a correlação entre a maneira de atribuir os nomes literários e os tipos de narrativas cultivadas pelo autor. Finalmente, procede-se a análise mais pormenorizada dos nomes de alguns personagens de Triste fim de Policarpo Quaresma.
