Yuriy Vynnychuk's Novel Tango of Death as a Trauma-healing Concept
Original language description
The article tries to interpret Y. Vynnychuk's novel Tango of Death as a trauma-healing concept. First, it provides an overview of the main evaluations of the novel. Second, it attempts to define its own interpretation keys and highlights some of the most important concepts aimed at the reactivation of memory. Third, it presents the author's repertoire of strategies which embody the concept. In particular, the following items are discussed: the concept of Lviv as "a paradise-like unity", "the primary order", symbolic state of being; the abundance of the motif of "death" in all kinds of representations, including tragic as well as grotesque; "batyar" subculture, including "batyar" slang, as an antidote and an authentic opposition to the centre.
