The study shows the possibilities of reconstructing the existentially essential positions of a stereotype based on narratives present in artistic texts. As models of real situations and experiences, they capture in the form of connotations the existential aspects of the linguistic image of the world; virtually, the stereotype. In the case of this paper, it is the Czech stereotype of the mother. In its reconstruction, it is confirmed that motherhood belongs to the canon of the highest values and is often subject to idealization or even sacralization. The main positions of the stereotype, confirmed by linguistic and folklore data, are supplemented by other connotations, existentially essential, although perhaps peripheral to the system, based on the study of poems and song texts (especially from the 20th century).
