Original language description
This research explores the particular journeys of musicians who become theatre musicians, investigating the competencies, skills and motivations that shape their engagement in the theatre landscape. Focusing on Central European perspectives, the study draws on interviews with theatre musicians in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, using interpretive phenomenological analysis. The research reveals a collaborative and multi-dimensional practice that intertwines sound, performance and creativity. Contrary to conventional approaches to higher education, theatre music education requires a transdisciplinary perspective, encompassing different artistic elements and mutual familiarity within creative teams. This study highlights the complex nature of composing for theatre, where performers, composers and other elements converge in a shared artistic experience.
