Nostalgia of the Frontier: Baja Mali Knindža and the Songs of Krajina Serb Diaspora
Original language description
This chapter focuses on the lyrics and music of the Serbian singer Mirko Pajčin (born 1966), who performs under the artistic pseudonym Baja Mali Knindža. Pajčin was born in the western Bosnian village of Gubin, the high mountain massif of Dinara, located on the border of Bosnia and Croatia, all of which plays a significant role in his lyrical work. The beginning of Baja's popularity is related to the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia in 1991 and, in particular, to the episodic expansion of the Serbian states into the territory of present-day Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina (in 1991-1995).
