Original language description
This paper examines and critically assesses the Czech Republic's current approach to the restitution of art confiscated under Nazi persecution. The analysis begins with a review of relevant legislation preceding the adoption of Act No. 212/2000 Coll., Holocaust Restitution Act, as amended, and includes a summary of international principles governing the restitution of Nazi-confiscated Art. These principles are then compared to the Czech Republic's recent legal framework. The paper focuses primarily on legislative regulation, with references to relevant case law serving as illustrative examples. In conclusion, the paper provides an evaluation of current Czech law, offering suggestions for legislative improvements ("de lege ferenda").
