Power as participation's master signifier
Original language description
This chapter sets out to argue that participation is a political-ideological concept that is intrinsically and intimately linked to power. This close connection is symbolized by reverting to Lacan's metaphor of the master signifier-without blindly respecting Lacanian orthodoxy-in order to argue that the notion of power stabilizes (or allows the stabilization of) the incessant contingency of "participation's" meaning.
