Bucharská lidová republika byla považována bolševickými elitami za pdočasný stát mezi obdobím pádu carského režimu a začlenění do SOvětského RUska (později Sovětského svazu). Bucharské elity, vzešlé z řad džadídů však vznik republiky interpretovali jako dosažení jednoho z jejich cílů - vytvoření moderní republiky. Případ Bucharské republiky po analýze a testování nejrůznějších aspektů konceptu de facto státu ukazuje, že tento teoretický rámec lze uplatnit i na státy vzniklé před definicí tohto teoretického rámce. thus fulfilled many of the criteria for de facto states (although the concept was constructed later). The text compares the different perceptions of this state from the perspective of its domestic elite and the patron state of Bolshevist Russia, and it shows the main reasons for the demise of this configuration.
