Cosmopolitan Visions Under the Critical Lens of Realist(ic) Geopolitics
Original language description
The cosmopolitan normative approach aims at unifying humanity's approach towards global politics and common challenges. These include space-based threats and opportunities. While outer space remains arguably the most suitable domain to test cosmopolitan ideas in practice, the chapter argues that territorially responsible decision-making is still superior to globalist cosmopolitan claims. Rooted in a realistic approach to geopolitics, the chapter develops policy recommendations that challenge the cosmopolitan vision of space development and the role of mid-sized European powers in it.
