'What Does God Need with a Starship?': A Conversation About Politics, Participation, and Social Media
Original language description
In a conversation-style approach, this chapter discusses the top-down and bottom-up power in social media, using examples such as Trump and the Insurrectionists but also the Arab Spring and contemporary youth movements to try to understand the concept of participatory ethics. Through the dialogue, insights are offered into the ethics of participation and suggestions are offered for a productive way forward for our relationship with social media, and finally what is most needed from future iterations of social media.
