In 2010 International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics (IAGG)-World Health Organisation (WHO) published Taskforce recommendations for the global nursing home care development agenda designed to address the known variation in quality of older person's experience around the world. (Tolson et al 2011). The ELTECA Exchange of Experience in Long-Term-Care Symposium, held in Prague, Czech Republic in March 2012, embodied the spirit of the IAGG-WHO recommended international cooperation and knowledge exchange between disciplines focussing on the Central European agenda and discussed important issues in long-term care and long-term care medicine.
