Czech urban ethnology (anthropology) - birth, politico-social and professionally scientific starting point, main topics of research
Original language description
The text followed the development of sub-disciplines, problems, which it thematised, and emphasised a holistic approach, which was asserted at the turn of the 21st century, when symbolism relating to the city found its way to the centre of attention of urban anthropologists, construction of its importance, the structured memory of the inhabitants in cities and their role in creation of urban identities, the issue of sacral and profane places in cities, the issue of myths in cities and about cities and the matter of a city living in its memories. This historical excursion helped place our research into the context of the field.
