Role of the Body - Scandinavian Ballads vs. Old Norse Literature
Original language description
This chapter shows how the concept of the body developed since the Middle Ages in the North. Two themes showing the connection of body and soul are chosen: corporality of revenants and shapeshifing. In both of them the development from Old Norse literature to Scandinavian ballads is reviewed.
