The 5th Annual Belarusian Studies in the 21st Century Conference took place on 21-22 February 2020 at the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies (UCL SSEES) in London. The Annual Lecture on Belarusian Studies titled "Bagpipe Player and Painted Birds. Belarusian Histories of the People in the Marshes" was delivered by Prof Thomas Bohn (Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen, Germany). The conference served as a multidisciplinary platform of Belarusian studies and offered a rare networking opportunity for researchers of the Eastern Europe. The conference organising committee included Dr Alena Marková, Peter Braga, Dr Stephen Hall, Prof Yarik Kryvoi (co-chair) and Prof Andrew Wilson (co-chair). The conference was supported by the British Association for Slavonic & East European Studies (https://belarusdigest.com/story/5th-annual-belarusian-studies-in-the-21st-century-conference/).
