Iraqi Yazidis : Complex Drivers for Migrating Abroad after the Genocide
Original language description
Sinjari Yazidis have faced a genocide since 2014 due to the attack of the Islamic State and some of their Arab neighbours. The paper is based on a field research both in Northern Iraq and partly also in Europe. The second research strategy was a triangulation of the findings from the field reseaerch with the existing (and growing) body of literature covering the plight of various Iraqi minorities, including Yazidis themselves. However, the main research question was how do the IDPs who have fled on the territory of the Kurdistan Regional Government make their decisions about their possible future migration: stay and integrate in the KRG, return back to Sinjar, leave for Europe.
