The Role of the Philosopher in Husserl‘s Phenomenology

  • Original language description

Philosophy did not begin with humankind but has emerged with time and with the evolution of intercultural relations. Indeed, Edmund Husserl describes the birth of philosophy in Greece as an answer to a culture shock. But how was life before Philosophy? What kind of philosophical life does Husserl strive for? Different points of view can be identified from which to look at the philosopher's role. From the philosopher's perspective, four main characteristics emerge. The philosopher is (1) an unwitting revolutionary, (2) a scientist in becoming, (3) lives the vocation of the philosophical profession as the "call to tragedy", and, at the same time, (4) constitutes the community of philosophers called by Husserl "Europe". The suggested interpretation helps to research Husserlian texts from a contemporary viewpoint, ultimately revealing itself as an up-to-date solution for our present and future.
